Gender — "everything has its masculine and feminine"

The seventh principle: generation on every plane requires two principles, understood as functions rather than persons — the projective and the receptive, seed and form. The Tree says it as Abba and Imma, Father and Mother, Chokhmah's undifferentiated flash received into Binah's womb of understanding and born as the lower sephirot; and as the Shekhinah, the receptive presence whose reunion with the Holy One is the aim of the work. Both insist the terms are cosmic functions present in every soul, never a statement about persons or bodies.
