The Shells or Husks: the coverings that conceal the sparks — evil not as a rival power but as crust on light. The Zohar grades them: three utterly dark, and one, kelipat nogah ("glowing shell"), translucent — the ordinary ambivalent stuff of life that can be turned either way.
