The Shattering of the Vessels: the vessels meant to hold the emanated light in the world of Tohu were too rigid, too separate — and they broke. Sparks of light fell, trapped in shards (kelipot), scattering divinity into matter. Luria's cosmic catastrophe makes brokenness original and repair the human vocation. Its echo in symmetry-breaking is a favorite modern resonance.
