The anonymous Book of the Image (Byzantine/Geronese circle, 13th–14th c.): a meditation on the SHAPES of the Hebrew letters as the "image" (temunah) through which each world is read — and the classic source for the doctrine of shemittot, the cosmic sabbatical cycles. Its radical claim: the Torah is eternal but its reading is not fixed. In each seven-thousand-year eon the same letters recombine under a different sefirah, so our Torah of prohibitions is only this cycle's configuration — the world of Chesed read it as pure permission, and the worlds to come will read it as beauty. Cherished by some, quarantined by others; in itself, a book insisting that even the sacred text is a face the Infinite turns, one age at a time.
