Shemittot — the Cosmic Cyclesשמיטות

The sabbatical projected onto the cosmos. As the week rests on the seventh day and the land lies fallow every seventh year, so creation itself runs in cosmic weeks: each shemittah is a world of seven thousand years, governed by one of the seven lower sefirot — its own attribute, its own reading of the Torah (the same letters, re-combined). Seven of them — forty-nine thousand years — complete a Yovel, the Great Jubilee, when all is released back into Binah, the Mother, and the next cycle begins. Sefer ha-Temunah teaches that we live in the SECOND world: the shemittah of Gevurah — judgment, boundary, death, the harsh letters — after a first world of pure Chesed that knew no prohibition; the worlds to come read the same Torah as harmony. Nachmanides hinted at it "by the way of truth"; Bahya, Recanati and Ziyoni carried it; the Ari and later masters grew wary (its cycle-talk later fed Sabbatian speculation). In itself a luminous teaching: nothing in creation is final. Walk it in ⟳ the cosmic cycles.
