How a combination radiates

The detail that makes the Ben Azzai story a picture and not just a doctrine: the fire does not arrive from above, and it does not stay in the book. It goes round him. The combination radiates.

⭐ And the tradition keeps saying this in different vocabularies. The book that says come and see is called Zohar — radiance. The letters do not merely permute in tzeruf; the practice is described in terms of heat and light. The 231 gates are a wheel that turns, and every pairing that lands is a spark. Sinai's own giving is a mountain burning, and the verse for it is the one where sound becomes visible.

So the aesthetic is not decoration and never was. If two things are strung together and nothing lights up, the tradition's own report is that the string is wrong. Radiance is this literature's pass/fail test for a connection.

⚠ Which puts a real obligation on an application like this one: a link that is merely true and produces no light has not yet done the thing Ben Azzai was doing. A cross-reference is not a footnote. It is supposed to burn.
